The Millington Trojans Football players came to the home of the late Dana Payne to remember his 15 years within the community he grew up. Several dozen came to Tameka Smith’s Northaven home to pay tribute to Payne. Her son was a sophomore at Millington Central High School and played wide receiver and defensive back for the Trojans. Payne died Tuesday after being tackled in practice and having breathing problems. Millington has paid tribute to the memory of Payne by starting a fund-raiser and hanging gold and black ribbons. The Trojans take the field at 7 p.m. tomorrow night at Kirby for their first game of the 2012 season. Payne’s funeral will be held at 3 p.m., Aug. 28 at Millington First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Monday.
