Dedications for Dana

Millington Lady Trojan Elizabeth Woodard enjoys some of the cookies from Barbara Hale, a Millington Trojan Alumni. Hale of the The Cookie Florist donated the Trojan Basket of Cookies to the MCHS Volleyball Team to pay respects for the late Dana Payne. The basket was given on behalf of the Munford Volleyball program. The two teams played last Thursday in the William Osteen Gymnasium with the Lady Cougars winning 25-9, 25-21 and 25-17. Munford’s Jodie Duncan tallied 17 points in the three sets. Duncan her teammates wore black and gold ribbons in their hair to also honor Millington and Payne.

Just down the road Thursday Millington Lady Trojan Casey Tarwater sported a black leg band in tribute to Dana Payne. It was the Lady Trojan Soccer team’s first game since the death of their classmate. The visiting Bolton Lady Wildcats defeated Millington 4-1 at Centennial Park to improve to 1-0-1 on the season. The Lady Trojans dropped to 1-1.

Millington received a goal from senior Katlyn Dupree from the assist of Iris Reyes. The Lady Wildcats were ahead 2-1 at halftime after goals from Rachel Harbin and Haley Guzzo. Bolton tallied two more goals in the final 40 minutes from Harbin and Hanna Bobe.
