Moore than the Wildcats can handle

By Thomas Sellers Jr.

Bolton’s Brandon Henderson tries to avoid a tackle from Millington’s Patrick Macon during Friday night’s game.

The Millington Trojans bounced back after their first M&M Bowl loss in 10 years with a 35-6 win over Bolton tonight in the Millington Football Stadium.

On offense, senior quarterback Allen Moore was the standout with five touchdown passes with three going to junior wide receiver LaKeron Garcia. On defense senior safety George Odum led the team in tackles and helped shut down the Wildcats for three quarters.

Millington took a 7-0 lead after Garcia took a screen pass 49 yards. Bolton made the score 7-6 when Kal Granderson connected with Rico Brown for a 50 yard touchdown pass.

Then Trojans like Delvin Williamson, Jonathan Patterson, Kraig Robinson and Odum controlled the line of scrimmage slowing down Bolton runners like Brandon Henderson and Greg Williams.

Meanwhile the Millington offense found a groove with Garcia catching a slant pass for a TD to make the tally 14-6 at halftime.

In the second half Moore spread the wealth finding receivers Jovan “BoBo” Ballard and Myron Threlkeld for long touchdown passes. The final score of the night was a long bomb to Garcia.

When Moore’s pass was tipped by three players, Garcia waited for the ball to fall in hands. The speedster took off and reached the end zone from 69 yards out.

Millington (3-1) will host the Brighton Cardinals next Friday. The Bolton Wildcats will host Frayser Friday night with both games kicking off at 7 p.m.
