Millington Arts & Rec Events for October

Continuing in October – The Millington Farmers’ Market is now open for business through October 27th at 5152 Easley Street after two highly successful seasons. In addition to a thriving marketplace, there will also be occasional live music and educational programs on gardening and green living to enhance the destination.  The hours will be on Saturdays from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  The mission of Millington Farmers’ Market is to promote a green lifestyle, economic opportunities for local growers and a dynamic destination in Old Town Millington by connecting local growers with the community in a marketplace of fresh, local, agricultural products.

 

Register now-Oct. 12

Register now for the first annual Co-Ed Oozeball (Mud Volleyball) Tournament, presented by Millington Arts and Recreation and MWR, to be held Saturday, Oct. 20at Navy Lake. This tournament is open to ages 14 and up.  Rosters must have 6-10 players per team, and teams must have at least three girls on the court at all times.  Cost is $12 per person (cash only) and includes a t-shirt.  For more information, please call Jay at 874-5383 or Samantha at 873-5770.

Register now for the first annual Co-Ed Dodgeball Tournament, presented by Millington Arts and Recreation and MWR, to be held Saturday, Nov. 17at N-82 Gym. Throughout October

Millington Arts and Recreation is proud to announce a new class offering: Jazz, Tap, and Ballet. This class will be open to ages 24 months up to 18 years old.  The classes will be held at Baker Community Center in room 5 every Tuesday beginning at 5:00 p.m. The cost is $40.00 per month.  The registration fee is $20.00. Oct. 13

The Millington Civic Center is hosting the annual Ecumenical Bazaar on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 9 am to 4 pm in the Banquet Hall. The event features crafts, baked goods, Christmas decorations, and much, much more! Breakfast and lunch will be served for $5.00. Oct. 16

Oct. 19 

Family Skate Night will be held on October 19th from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Millington Civic Center gym. Entertainment will be provided by Jordabella Entertainment.  Admission is $5 and includes the use of our skates.  Non-skating parents are admitted free.  Concessions will be sold.  The school with the most students in attendance will win the traveling Skate Night trophy!

 

Oct. 20 

Team Trivia Night at the Millington Civic Center Gym.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m., trivia begins at 6:30 p.m.  $60 per team if pre-paid; $10 per person if paid at the event; includes light snacks.  Each table must be pre-reserved; reservation deadline is Wednesday, October 17, 2012.  Please call Millington Arts and Recreation at 873-5770 or Samantha McCracken at 233-0981 to reserve your team’s table. There will be 10 rounds of 10 questions per round.  Each round will have a specific category.  For each question, the team will confer and write one answer on the answer sheet provided.  At the end of each round, each team’s answer sheet will be collected, and the answers will be announced.  A scoreboard with the running scores will be displayed. You are encouraged to bring in your own food and snacks, but no outside beverages of any kind, including alcoholic beverages or beer, will be allowed.  20 oz. sodas will be sold for $1.50 each.   Free child care will be provided during the event for ages 3 and up. Proceeds from the event will benefit Millington Arts and Recreation and E.A. Harrold PTSA. For more information, please call 873-5770.

 

Oct. 20

Join Millington Arts and Recreation and MWR for the first annual Oozeball Tournament.  Oozeball is volleyball played in approximately eight inches of mud.  6-10 players per team. Tournament is limited to the first 20 teams to register. Teams must have at least 3 girls on the court at all times. All players must wear shoes and shorts/pants.  Swim tops are acceptable. Oct. 26

Movies at the Market: Millington Arts and Recreation is proud to announce “Movies at the Market” at the Millington Farmers’ Market on October 26th.  We will be showing “Ice Age: Continental Drift” starting at 7:00 p.m.  Admission is $5 per person, and includes popcorn, tea, lemonade, and water.  Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and enjoy an evening of family, fun, and entertainment.  For more information, please call 873-5770.

Fall Festival at the Millington Farmers’ Market from 8:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. Hay rides, pumpkin painting, balloon animals, fresh fruits and veggies, and more! For more information, please call 873-5770.

City Wide Clean Up presented by Millington City Beautiful. Meet at Jameson Park at 8:30 AM, t-shirt, gloves and bags will be given, lunch will be provided following the clean up! For more information, please call 317-0888. 

 

Oct. 31 

 Halloween Carnival at the Millington Civic Center Gym from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.  Free admission. Costume contest, games, candy, prizes, candy corn guessing game, and more! Concessions will be sold.  For more information, please call 873-5770.
