Wild & Out

By Thomas Sellers Jr.

A little drizzle wouldn’t keep hunters of all ages from attending the 2012 Men and Boys Wild Game Dinner.

The annual event went on as scheduled at the Millington First Baptist Church last Monday with several dozen visiting sponsor displays and attending the dinner. Brighton High School students Elijah Stearns and Addison Watkins took advantage of the tents set up on the FBC grounds to check out four-wheelers and Side-By-Side vehicles.

The exhibitions were conducted by Abby Farm Supply, American RB, Barton’s Power Sports, Bass Pro Shops, Goodman Ranch, Ginn’s Custom Calls, Hime Sharpening Service, Homer Skelton Chrysler Dodge, Homer Skelton Ford, Hydratek, National Wild Turkey Federation, Outdoors with Larry Rhea, Polaris of Memphis, Shelby Forest Taxidermy, TN Wildlife Resource Agency, Town & County Locksmiths, Inc., Turner Game Birds and Yamaha of Millington.

Along with an RV registration area, event goers had a chance to fellowship with peers before the meal. Boy Scouts Troop got things rolling with the presentation of colors and Pledge of Allegiance.

After the National Anthem performed by Rusty Eason, Gary Stafford addressed the audience of hunters with the welcome, prayer and acknowledgements.

FBC Pastor David Leavell introduced this year’s speaker Steve Chapman. Each year the event promotes the spiritual bond hunting provides. And the men use the dinner as an opportunity to share some of their game and continue the tradition of hunting and fellowship.

The sponsors of the Wild Game Dinner was Haddad’s, Boatwright Pharmacy, Patriot Bank, and Bass Pro Shops.
