Munford Parks and Recreation basketball sign-ups are going on now through the end of October. It is for ages 4-16 (boys and girls) and there is a fee. You can pay online with a credit/debit card or come by and see us with a check or cash. The department offers payment plans so you can pay in installments when it is best for you. Oct. 10-14

IHRA Summit World Finals: The Summit Racing Equipment World Finals is the premier sportsman drag racing event. Featuring three huge races in one weekend, the World Finals at Memphis International Raceway will include the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Spectacular open to all racers as a last chance qualifier for the championship tournament followed by the invitation-only Summit Racing Equipment Tournament of Champions presented by AMSOIL and the Summit Racing Equipment Super Series presented by AMSOIL and Moser Engineering World Championship.   With over $200,000 in cash and prizes on the line and 10 world championships up for grabs the Summit World Finals weekend is the biggest and most exciting event in sportsman drag racing today.

 

Oct. 11

A “Community Forum” will be held on Thursday, 7 p.m., at Lucy Baptist Church, 4005 Lucy Road, Millington, in the Christian Activities Building.  This informational meeting includes special guests Millington Interim Mayor Linda Carter, several current and newly-elected aldermen, and city department leaders who will share about the proposed Lucy annexation, schools situation, and visions for the area.  All Lucy residents and citizens of the community area are invited to attend.  For more information, please call the Church Office at 872-0623; e-mail to info@lucybaptist.com; or visit our website at www.lucybaptist.com.

 

Oct. 13

The Millington Ecumenical Bazaar will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Civic Center on Wilkinsville Road.  There will be Arts, Crafts, Canned Goods, Baked Goods and lots of other stuff.  Please come and support your local Churches.  Breakfast and Lunch will be served for a minimal fee.  For more info call Susan Howard at 835-2426.

 

Oct. 13-14

All racing experiences can be viewed on website to drive or ride. Experience the ¾ mile paved oval like the driver’s do at Memphis International Raceway.

 

Oct. 16

Test N Tune:Want to go fast?  Here is your chance!  Held on MIR’s historic drag strip, the Test and Tune is open to all makes and models. Bring your favorite car to MIR and see what it can run in the quarter-mile.  Gates open at 5:30 p.m.  Racing from 6-10 p.m.  Test N Tune Admission:  Racer $20, Spectator & Crew $10, Children 12 & under free

 

Oct. 20

The Clopton United Methodist Church located at 5285 Brighton Clopton Road in Brighton will host it’s Fourth Annual Clopton Fest on Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the church grounds. Oct. 19

Family Skate Night will be held on Oct. 19 from 6–9 p.m. at the Millington Civic Center gym. Entertainment will be provided by Jordabella Entertainment.  Admission is $5 and includes the use of our skates.  Non-skating parents are admitted free.  Concessions will be sold.  The school with the most students in attendance will win the traveling Skate Night trophy.

 

Oct. 20

Team Trivia Night at the Millington Civic Center Gym.  Doors open at 6 p.m., trivia begins at 6:30 p.m.  There is a fee.Each table must be pre-reserved; reservation deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 17.  Please call Millington Arts and Recreation at 873-5770 or Samantha McCracken at 233-0981 to reserve your team’s table.

 

Memphis Grudge Fest III: If it has wheels bring it. Special classes for golf carts and 4 wheelers.  $100 will be awarded to the fastest bike / door car / dragster.  Gates open at 7 p.m., racing from 8 p.m. – Midnight.  Rock out with Amanda Nagurney at 9:00 PM in the Pit Party area.  Admission:  $20 to run, $10 spectators.

Join Millington Arts and Recreation and MWR for the first annual Oozeball Tournament.  Oozeball is volleyball played in approximately eight inches of mud.  6-10 players per team. Tournament is limited to the first 20 teams to register. Teams must have at least 3 girls on the court at all times. All players must wear shoes and shorts/pants.  Swim tops are acceptable. Lazy Anchor Fall Festival will be held Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Lazy Anchor Ranch, Naval Support Activity Mid-South, Millington. Free Hay-rides to the Pumpkin Patch (kids 12 and younger can pick a free pumpkin); free activities for kids including face painting, moon bounce, climbing wall, and more. Movies at the Market: Millington Arts and Recreation is proud to announce “Movies at the Market” at the Millington Farmers’ Market on Oct. 26.  We will be showing “Ice Age: Continental Drift” starting at 7 p.m.  There is a admission fee, and includes popcorn, tea, lemonade, and water.  Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and enjoy an evening of family, fun, and entertainment.  For more information, call 873-5770.

 

Collectiable Appraisal Open House will be held Friday Oct. 26 from noon to 5 p.m. At the Holiday Inn Express located at 5090 Copper Creek in Millington. This event is presented by the Millington Area Chamber of Commerce. Appraisal evaluations will be performed by Ed Tuten of International Society of Appraisers and Dave Pearson of Auntie Q’s Auction. A special invitation is being sent out to the Millington Navy Base for the upcoming Halloween Dance  hosted by the VFW Post 5225 at 4065 Avalon Street in West Memphis, Ark., Saturday at 8 p.m. with the Terry Logan Band. Nov. 7

West Union C.P. Church will host its annual Craft Bazaar Nov. 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3099 West Union. The deadline to register is Nov. 7.
