Casting Shadows: Jones Orchard features new theme in eighth Halloween maze

By Thomas Sellers Jr.

Some of the spooky attractions at the 2012 Shadowlands.

It seems every year since 2005 the Jones Orchard haunted maze gets bigger.

This year at 6880 Singleton Parkway in Millington there are currently two corn mazes to explore with the Werewolves in the Corn and Graveyard. The combined 10 acres of horror are just  part of the Jones Orchard attraction in 2012.

Now known as Shadowland, the former Trail of Terror, opened the first of this month and will concluded on Halloween night. The corn maze is open throughout the week and on Fridays and Saturdays the haunted attractions are available.

The Graveyard is three acres while the Werewolves in the Corn maze is seven acres. Along with the haunted mazes, Shadowland also features three antique tractors for hay rides. One of the hay rides is haunted.

“We’re an outside haunt,” Henry Jones of Jones Orchard said. “People enjoy getting outside and walking around. I think we have plenty for them to enjoy.”

Adults and children (6 and older) cost $6. Children 5 and under are free with adult. There is a group rate for 20 or more.

Shadowland is open Monday to Thursday 6 to 10 p.m., Fridays from 6 to 11 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 11 p.m. Or Sundays from noon to 10 p.m.
