The match up between the Brighton Cardinals and Millington Trojans this Friday will be a rematch of a thriller from earlier this season.

The Class 6A State Football Playoff game will take place in Brighton. The Trojans (5-5) were placed as a seventh seed to take on the District 13-3A runner ups,
Brighton Cardinals. Will Wolfe’s Cardinals finished 7-3 on the season earning a No. 2 seed.
Brighton’s 28-27 victory over the Trojans in Millington earlier this season sparked a winning streak for the Cardinals. Brighton won six games in a row with wins over playoff teams like Munford and Hardin County.
The Cardinals feature a passing attack led by senior quarterback Brady Stewart. Coming out of the backfield, Antonio Dickerson is a weapon in the running and passing game. The Trojan defense is familiar with No. 8 Artez Harris and his ability to spread the field.
Harris caught the game-winning TD against Millington and has had big receiving games against opponents like Riverdale and Hardin County.
The Trojans feature a defense that hasn’t allowed more than 30 points all season controlling top-rank offensive units like Jackson North Side, Craigmont, Brighton, Munford, Arlington and Trezevant.
Millington faced seven playoff teams on their road to the postseason. The first-year offense has held it’s own despite playing four quarterbacks Nick Hunt, Allen Moore, LaKeron Garcia and Eldon Tyms. The Trojans features several weapons in their version of the spread offense. But the Millington offense’s success seems to be dictated by the running of senior Antonio Webber.
The winner of the game Friday in Brighton will move on to play the winner of Bolton/Germantown.
The No. 1 seed in the quad is the unbeaten Whitehaven Tigers. The Tigers will face Collierville in the first round. Southwind and Houston are the four and five seeds respectively.
The Brighton/Millington game will kickoff at 7 p.m. this Friday in Brighton.
