Navy and Veterans open to traffic

Cars are flowing in all directions at the newest intersection in Millington, Veterans Parkway and Navy Road. The signals came to life around 11 a.m. today.

After months of work, one of the first signs of Veterans Parkway’s completion opened with the signal lights at Navy started working.

That opened up Veterans Parkway from Paul Barret Parkway and Navy Road.

Before noon today the signal lights in all directions were functioning allowing traffic to travel at the intersection of Navy Road and Veterans Parkway near the Industrial Development Board Builiding.

On Oct. 29, Church Street was closed for repairs at the railroad tracks forcing traffic to detour from Veterans Parkway effecting Paul Barret Parkway and Highway 51.

The construction around Church Street is scheduled to continue until Nov. 5. Next week repairs will begin on the railroad track at Navy Road between Nov. 5-12.

The grand opening of Veterans Parkway will be Nov. 13.
