BENNIE ‘MAC’ CHESTEEN

Bennie “Mac” Chesteen, 50, of Brighton was born Dec. 29, 1961 in Harlingen, Texas, was welcomed into Heaven on Nov. 2, 2012 by his father, Laymon Floyd Chesteen and brother, Johnny Chesteen. He was owner and operator of C&C and Son Mechanical and a graduate of Trezevant High School in Frayser. Bennie attended First Baptist Church in Millington and sang in the choir. He was a loving father, son, and grandfather who strongly supported many charities and his community. Bennie is survived by his children, Trevor Allen Chesteen, Rende Dianne Chesteen, Kadie Lynne Chesteen, Jennifer Marie Wilson; mother, Mary Hales; two brothers, Jimmy Chesteen, Clay Chesteen; and granddaughter, Skylar Grace Wilson. Service was held Nov. 7 at First Baptist Church in Millington. Interment was in Forest Hill East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Ronald McDonald House. CHARLES RAY GENTRY

Charles Ray Gentry, 70, was born March 13, 1942 and went home on Nov. 5, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Glenda; daughter, Paula Waits (Jeff); son, Brad Gentry (Tammy); son, Matthew Gentry (Lindsay); seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Maggie Key and Bobbie Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Gentry, his mother, Ida Gentry, two brothers and one sister. He retired from the local carpenters union, No. 345. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved spending time with his family and working with youth in the church and community. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with services to follow at 12 p.m., all at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery. The family requests memorials are sent in the name of Charles Ray Gentry to The National Kidney Foundation (357 Mt. MICHAEL JAY ROBERTS

Michael Jay Roberts, 60, of Millington, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 while doing what he loved doing best, helping a friend. Mr. Roberts is a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Since retiring from the Marine Corps, he has been a Senior Maintenance Planner for FedEx. He is one of the most giving people you might ever meet. He loved spending his days off helping others.  Mr. Roberts also loved photography, motorcycling, fishing, and traveling with his wife, Rhonda. He was a member of the Gideon‚Äôs International; the Millington Optimists Club, and Lucy Baptist Church where he served as an usher. Surviving Mr. Roberts is his wife of 38 years, Rhonda Roberts; his children, Michael Roberts Jr. (Julie) of Olive Branch, Miss.; and Christopher Roberts of Schenectady, N.Y.; a grandson, Kolby Roberts; his mother, Irene Roberts; and his siblings, Marsha Saul Hargitt (Ron), Marshall Roberts (Meri), Myla Dee Vannie (Jim), Mindy Roberts, and Mikki Currado; step brothers and sisters, Ruthie, Ricky, Albert, Nancy; father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Frances Laird; sister-in-law, Michelle Roskelley; brother-in-law, Leon Laird (Mary Jo), closest friend, Bob Halbrook; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services was held at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home. Interment was at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery.
