This Saturday the 2012 Millington Christmas Parade will be held at 3 p.m. The parade begins at Bill Knight and Newport, continuing north on Newport, right onto Navy Road, then right onto Church Street, and right onto Bill Knight. There is a theme for each year’s event, which annually features more than 50 entries. Trophies are awarded for the best entries.
This year floats will work with the theme “Memories of Christmas Past.” Floats will enter the staging area Saturday from Raleigh-Millington Road to Biloxi Street.
After receiving their staging number, floats will take to the line at the staging area by 2:30 p.m. Any late arrivals will not be admitted into the parade route. The parade will begin promptly at 3 p.m. Judging will take place from the area in front of the library as floats pass by. Winners will be notified on Monday following the parade.
Entries must follow the theme “Memories of Christmas Past”. The participants may choose either a time period or specific year. Each unit will be assigned a number in chronological order of time period represented. This number can be attached to their float or carried by a member of their walking unit. This number must be shown when you enter on Navy Road so that you can be identified by the judges.
