Baker Heading to Delta State

By Thomas Sellers Jr.

Munford Lady Cougar Jessyca Baker will be playing college softball at Delta State after her senior season.

Munford Lady Cougar Jessyca Baker signed her national letter of intent today to play softball at Delta State University in the Munford High School Library. With her parents Jody Sigler and Dayna Baker by her side, Jessyca celebrated the occasion with teammates and Munford Head Coach Glenn Goulder.

Baker will be a senior catcher for the Lady Cougars in 2013. She has helped guide Munford to two straight Class 3A State Softball Tournaments as a designated hitter and backup catcher behind Amanda Levin. With the graduation of Levin, Baker will move into the full-time role.

Baker has kept her skills sharp in travel softball with the After Shock, a team based out of West Tennessee featuring players from Tennessee and Arkansas. Baker batted .374 and displayed a strong arm from behind the plate in tournaments in South Carolina, Florida and Oklahoma.
