Donald Gordon “Sonny” Butcher, 82, passed away on Dec. 10, 2012 in Henderson, Nev. He was born in DeWitt, Ark., on Nov. 28, 1930. He was a retired painter who loved traveling, reading, telling stories and making people laugh. He is survived by three sons; Jimmy (Glenna) Butcher of Millington, Michael Butcher of Hamilton, Ohio, and Soctty (Evelyn) Butcher of Bartlett; as well as a sister Dimple Diviney from Henderson. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Dwayne Butcher and Joe Butcher both of Memphis, April Yancey of Brighton and Jaime Butcher of Millington. He also leaves eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who cherish memories of their Uncle Sonny. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Sidney Butcher and mother Mallie Sophrona Butcher; his oldest son Donnie Butcher, seven brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be held in DeWitt, Ark., on Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. at the DeWitt Cemetery. For more information, call 355-6504


Frances Embry Edmiston, 85, of Millington, died Dec. 13, 2012. Service was held Dec. 15 at Munford Millington Chapel. Interment in West Union Cemetery. Mrs. Edmiston was a member of Frayser Bible Church, Memphis, and recently attended West Union Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Milligan; and is survived by her husband, Alfred L. Edmiston; three daughters, Janice Culpepper, Angela Accampo and Pam Hill, all of Greenville, S.C.; four sons, Al of Ashville, N.C., Paul of Maryville, Dan of Memphis,  and Mark of Jacksonville, Fla.; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Juanita “Tina” Collier Warner was born to James and Elizabeth Collier in Crittenden County on April 27, 1938. She departed this life Dec. 13, 2012 surrounded by family. Her parents; her siblings (Sarah Patterson, Mary Collier, Sharky Collier, Joe Collier and Jimmy Collier) all preceded her in death.She was a devoted and loving mother, a wonderful cook; famous for her Carmel cakes. She was an excellent caregiver and she cared for others. Raising her five children in North Memphis on Hollywood St, she will be missed and remembered my many. She was deeply loved by family and especially her children; she is the hero of their lives. Vibrantly, strong and determined she set a strong example that propelled each of her surviving children to excel in school, each to degrees in college, professional careers  and ministry. Her greatest deposit to her children and community as the founder mother to United Christian Fellowship Church in Millington. Juanita went to be with our lord content and blessed. Tina is survived by her children: Calvin (Ethel) Collier of Millington; Wanda Miller of Memphis; Rita (Rickey) Montgomery of Millington; Frieda Collier of Memphis; Rhonda Randolph of Shreveport, La.; Christine Warner, Alex Jr.Andrea Harris, Debra Anthony, Marquine Yancy all of Memphis, She is also survived by her grand-children; Andrea Wilson; Calvin Jr. Collier, Christopher Collier, and Jacinta Cartmen of Memphis, Ruth Montgomery, Rachell Montgomery, Felicia Collier, Jamal Collier, Jasmine Jackson and the Arnold Family all of Millington.  She is survived by her siblings Nora Burnetti of Memphis, David Collier of Cleveland, Ohio, Bishop Collier of Janette, Ark., John Collier and Carl Clements of Memphis as well as a host of nieces and nephews and family members and friends; cherished by her she will be missed. The Family will be having service on Sunday Morning at United Christian Fellowship Church where her daughter Rita Collier Montgomery is the Pastor, 5149 Easley Road Millington, TN 38053
