Two incidents involving vehicles occurred this past weekend in the North Shelby County area.

On Saturday night the Memphis Police investigated a deadly wreck on New Allen Road in Raleigh just outside of Millington.

Witnesses and police said the crash involved an illegally high rate of speed. New Allen Road was shut down for hours after a two-car crash ended killing two people. The vehicle driving at a high speed of at least 100 miles per hour hit another car.

Memphis Police said the accident happened around 5 p.m. on New Allen and Hawkins Mill. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found  one of the vehicles ran off the roadway. Two people were sent by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, both in non-critical condition.

Then on Sunday in Millington, a mother and child were sent to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle in the Millington Walmart parking lot.

The 4-year-old child was transported to Le Bonheur Hospital in Memphis, and the mother was transported to the Regional Medical Center. Millington Police Department said the injuries may be critical. The incident is being investigated.
