CORDOVA — Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels Head Coach Jason Morgan had a method to his madness by bringing his team to the 2012 St. Benedict Holiday Tournament.

Before heading in January and the Division II-A schedule, his Rebels will take on some of the best public schools and large private schools in the Mid-South. TRA opened the tournament last Thursday in the St. Benedict Gymnasium in the main event game against the host.

Despite a stellar performance from Rebel big man Matt Moody (right), St. Benedict prevailed 80-59. Moody, a junior forward, kept his team close in the first quarter with 10 points coming close to the rim. His teammate Ben Tribble added a bucket and the Rebels trailed 27-12 after one quarter.

Moody had a solid second quarter with 9 points on his way to 27 points for the game. But the Eagles were paced by outside shooting to maintain the advantage at 46-31 at the break. St. Benedict drained five three-pointers in the first quarter.

Moody had 8 points in the second half meanwhile the Eagles were on their way toward advancing to play in winner’s bracket.
