The U.S. Department of Energy will host a public meeting in Atoka, tomorrow to allow people to present comments and ask questions about the Clean Line Energy power line project that will bring clean wind-generated electricity from Western Oklahoma to West Tennessee, crossing parts of Tipton County and possibly Shelby County. The meeting will focus on the types of issues the Department of Energy should address as it prepares its Environmental Impact Statement on the project.
The Tennessee meeting will be held at the Gateway Baptist Church Center, 1915 Rosemark Road, in Atoka on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., with the formal presentation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
When approved, the power line is expected to cross the Mississippi River from Arkansas into South Tipton county and terminate near a TVA facility east of Millington and just south of the Tipton and Shelby County line. This meeting will help determine the route the power line will follow from the river to the TVA facility.
