Old Millington Winery was honored at the prestigious Wines of the South Competition, held recently in Knoxville. Their 2011 Blackberry Wine was chosen as Best in Show in the Dessert/Fruit category. Judges were impressed by this refreshing wine, which is both sweet and tart at the same time, much like a blackberry pie.
Wines of the South is a nationally recognized competition, and this year’s contest was no exception with over 400 entries from ten states. The judges’ panel was comprised of wine experts from all across the country.
Old Millington’s award winning 2011 Blackberry Wine will be featured later this month at the Annual Winemakers dinner at the Tennessee Farm Winegrowers Alliance meeting in Nashville.
Old Millington Winery is a family-owned winery located 14 miles north of Downtown Memphis. Visitors are always welcome and can find this year’s award-winning Blackberry Wine as well as a variety of other wines for tasting and for sale.
