Last night the Millington Lady Trojans assured themselves of the No. 1 seed in the upcoming District 14-3A Tournament by beating the Arlington Lady Tigers 60-44.Millington improved to 6-0 in league play led by a balanced attack. Four Lady Trojans scored in double figures with Treasure Redding leading the way with 14 points. Her teammates Kendra Richardson, Seymon Taylor and Erin Clark tallied 12, 12 and 11 respectively. UT-Martin signee and Trojan forward Tiara Caldwell just missed out on double digits with 8 points. In boys action in the Arlington Gymnasium, the Trojans fell behind 10-1 early to the Tigers. But Millington settled down without senior point guard Jerick Newsome to take the lead in the second quarter. And eventually in a low-scoring affair the Trojans pulled out a 48-45 win at Arlington.
The win was the Trojans’ second straight on the road in district play.
