A 5-year-old child was found wandering the streets near the Waverly community alone last week.

The little girl’s mother and her boyfriend are facing child abuse charges.

The girl left her home just outside of Millington from a car parked in the driveway in the middle of the night.

According to investigators, Jocelyn Temple and her boyfriend Keith Miller went to a friend’s birthday event Friday night. The affidavit of complaint said hours later when they pulled into their driveway, Miller, Temple and her two  boys went into the house apparently leaving the 5-year-old girl in the vehicle alone.

The girl woke up later and tried to get into the house. When she found the doors locked she started the long walk toward her grandparents house. The little girl was able to make it here to a BP Gas station on Raleigh-Millington. The walk was estimated about half a mile from her home.

A stranger spotted the child, and when he found out what happened he got the girl to show where she lived and that’s when officers were called.
