Obituaries March 14

Marcille Duke Reed, 90, passed away Feb. 27, 2013.  She was born Aug. 16, 1922, near Lexington, and moved to Millington,  in 1949 with her now deceased husband of 63 years, E. Loyd Reed.  Loyd was the love of her life and together they established the first dental practice in Millington and involved themselves in the fabric of the community.  She was a member of First Baptist Church, Millington for 63 years where she served as Sunday School teacher, WMU President, and many positions of service to her Lord Jesus.  She was a faithful member of the Lydia Sunday School Class and enjoyed all her friends in the Millington Reading Club for many years. She lived her life as an example of unconditional love and support to her family.  A devoted wife, a loving mother and a “doting” grandmother, she leaves three children, Linda R. McCalla (Frank), Mark L. Reed (Linda), and Kevin D. Reed, ( Lynn); and seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The last hours of her life she was peaceful, comfortable and expressed her deep love to her children and family.  She also spoke of how happy she was going to be in joining her family in heaven and looked with joy to that reunion. She also leaves a sister, Larue Maxwell of Nashville. Funeral service was held March 2 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Millington. In lieu of flowers, you may send memorials to First Baptist Church Millington or a charity of the donor’s choice.
