Dyson signs with UMass

Covington Charger standout shooting guard Demetrius Dyson signed his national letter of intent today in the CHS Library. Dyson, who was a three-year letterman at Brighton High School, transferred to Covington this past year and was the leader of Head Coach Dion Real’s Charger squad. Dyson, who was rated a three-star recruit by both Rivals and ESPN.com, averaged 23.8 points and 10.4 rebounds a game during his senior season at Covington. He also shot 50 percent from the field and was a 78 percent from the free throw line. He will play for UMass Minutemen Head Coach Derek Kellogg in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The 6’5 Dyson has won several individual basketball honors from AAU and varsity basketball and said he is proud to represent Tipton County at a national power.
