Millington is again well represented on the Leadership Team of Mid-South Convoy of Hope, an all-volunteer organization. Now they are looking for more sponsors and volunteers. Go to www.midsouth.convoyoutreach.org to donate or volunteer.
You can contact 888-926-4592 and leave a message to get more information as well. Local leaders recently met with Marriott to discuss plans for food services and the free lunch for guests.
On Sept. 7 in Memphis, the Mid-South Convoy of Hope will partner with more than 200 area churches, service agencies, businesses, and medical service providers to extend a helping hand to an estimated 10,000 guests of honor including struggling families, single moms, and unemployed. No qualifying to participate!
We need about 2,000 volunteers who will give our guests a day of “hope” as they are welcomed into a loving environment that will provide a free meal, medical & dental screenings, a job fair and resume writing assistance, free entertainment, a free “Kid’s Carnival” and Youth Zone, prayer with trained volunteers, and free groceries (Convoy of Hope will distribute 50,000 pounds of food for families and 1,000 shelf stable meals for those without cooking facilities).
This is an exciting opportunity for Mid South residents to unite and do something positive to combat the growing problems plaguing our community.
