New York, Here We Come

Star Staff ReportsDSC_0116

Last month, the Millington Central High School Art Department had a special ceremony in the Library to celebrate Tabitha Perry’s and Saxton Randolph’s admission and acceptance of scholarships to attend two prestigious New York Art schools. Perry will be attending Pratt MWP in Utica, N.Y., and after her sophomore year will be enrolled in Pratt Brooklyn. Saxton will be attending the School of Visual Arts in New York City in the fall.

Both students received large scholarships based on their overall GPA, portfolios, ACT scores and teacher recommendations. They were both students in Amy Lange’s Advanced Placement Studio Art class this year.  MCHS Principal

Mark Neal was presented with ball caps from both schools so he can “represent.” Dawn Taylor, a Junior at MCHS, was also presented with a $500 scholarship, during the celebration, to attend an arts summer enrichment program this summer. The scholarship was given by the MCHS’ chapter of the National Art Honor Society. Perry and Randolph are pictured with Lange at the recent Academic All-Star Luncheon, which they both won the nominations in the region this year.
