Flag City’s Freedom Celebration set for July 3

Waiver request for Flag City Freedom Celebration has been approved.

Plans are in place. Contracts are signed. Naval Support Activity is partnering with the city of Millington to celebrate our country’s birthday with a bang. Residents from all over are invited to join the party at Navy Lake July 3 for live music, concessions, kids’ activities, and one of the best fireworks show in the Mid-3a. DWC_2484South. The annual festival is open to the public located at Navy Lake (6234 Kerr-Rosemark Road in Millington. The cost is a gate fee of $5 per vehicle. The gate opens at 5 p.m.

Presented by: Naval Support Activity Mid-South and the City of Millington. . The Gate opens at 5 p.m. . Activities start at 5 p.m. . Spectacular Fireworks Show. . Children’s Play Area. . Live band performances: Navy Band and The Dallas Cole Band. .

Do: bring picnic baskets, blankets, coolers and lawn chairs. .

Don’ts: No pets, No fireworks, No open fires, No grills, No tents, . No soliciting and No political campaigning. . Food and beverage concessions will be available. . Alcohol will be sold. . Anticipating 15,000 spectators. . Audience will include over 5,000 military personnel and their family members.

Other Area Fourth Events:

Rock the Block is coming to Walker Park on Friday, July 5 beginning at 6 p.m.  Plan to join us for a communitywide celebration of the Independence Day holiday and the dedication of the recent improvements at Walker Park.  The free event will feature live music, activities for the entire family, food and, after dark, a fantastic fireworks display as we celebrate America – all right in the heart of Atoka at Walker Park.

Rain date will be Saturday, July 6.


Free community picnic will be offered – courtesy of FastTimes – including hot dogs, chips, drinks, snow cones and watermelon.  Food will be on a first come-first served basis so plan to arrive early.

Seating will be limited so bring your lawnchairs and blankets for grass seating.  Activities Bounce houses, face painting stations, picture booths, splash pad activities, sand volleyball and more Live music throughout the evening on the main stage After dark, fireworks from the heart of Walker Park.  Fireworks will be visible from surrounding subdivisions as well Parking Parking at Atoka Elementary with free shuttle service to Walker Park.  Shuttle service will begin running at 5 pm. Parking at Walker Park will be limited to handicap-tagged vehicles only. On-street parking will be allowed in the emergency lane on Meade Lake Road and in the Templeton Farms subdivision.  Police officers will be available to assist pedestrians in crossing at Meade Lake Road and Walker Parkway. On-street parking will not be allowed on Walker Parkway (east of Meade Lake Road), Farmers Trail or Kearns Circle.  Vehicles parked in those areas will be subject to ticketing and towing.
