Summer Saturdays
The Millington Crisis Center, located at 8133 Wilkinsville Road, will have a yard sale (rain or shine) the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m.-noon. For more information or to donate, call 872-HELP (4357).

The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

Mary S. Mitchell teaches an art class at the Baker Community Center on Monday  at 5 p.m., “Drawing Made Easy.” The class meets in room 2. There is a cost for two hours of instruction. Supplies needed are a pad of smooth drawing paper and a fine tip black marker and two packages of colored markers one broad tip and one fine tip. For more information, call 258-0408.

International Goat Days Festival Information –  Are you interested in volunteering to help with the festival this year? Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group: This support group is dedicated to grandparents raising their grandchildren.  Share your experiences, advice, and stories with others on Friday, July 19 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  For more information or to register for this class, call 873-5770.

City Beautiful will host our Gardening Seminar Series at the Millington Farmers’ Market Every second Saturday at 11 a.m.

July 13
Millington City Beautiful Gardening Seminar will be held July 13 at  11 a.m at Millington Farmer’s Market. Carl Wayne Hardeman, Memphis Area Master Gardener and leader of Collierville Victory Garden will discuss “Raised Bed Gardening.”  Free to all interested in raised beds and community gardens. July 18
The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1382 meeting will be held at noon, Thursday at Old Timers Restaurant in Millington. The guest speaker will be Tempia McCowan, Family Service Advanced Planning, Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens. She will discuss how to plan a funeral or memorial service. July 19
Family Skate Night will be held on July 19 from 6– 9 p.m. at the Millington Civic Center gym. Entertainment will be provided by Jordabella Entertainment.  Admission is $5 and includes the use of our skates.  Non-skating parents are admitted free.  Concessions will be sold.  The school with the most students in attendance will win the traveling Skate Night trophy!

July 23
Mature Adults Ballroom Dance (ages 30 and up) will be held at Baker Community Center in Millington on Tuesday. The music will be by The VIPs from hours of 7-10 p.m. There is a fee and bring finger foods. For more information, contact Betty or Everett Clark at 872-3508.

July 26
Movies at the Market: Millington Arts and Recreation is proud to announce “Movies at the Market” at the Millington Farmers’ Market on July 26.  We will be showing “Disney’s Brave” starting at 7:45 p.m.  There is an admission fee per person and includes all snacks and drinks.  Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and enjoy an evening of family, fun, and entertainment.  For more information, call 873-5770.

July 27
Brighton AYSO Fall Soccer for boys and girls, ages 4-18, will be available to teach soccer at the Old Brighton High School July 27 from 10 a.m. to noon, Aug. 1, 8, and 9 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and Aug. 3 and 10 from 10 a.m. to noon. There is a fee which includes soccer jersey, socks, trophy, and soccer accident insurance. Beginning July 8 through Sept. 30, the NSA Mid-South commissary will close on Monday and Tuesday. We know that any disruption in commissary operations will impact the NSA Mid-South community. Our commissary is not alone. The decision to reduce the operational hours of commissaries impacts nearly all commissaries with only a few overseas exceptions – commisaries where there are sufficient Local National employees to remain open. We appreciate your support and patience during this time.

Free movies every Tuesday and Wednesday during June and July courtesy of Cineplanet 16 and these fine South Tipton County Chamber of Commerce members. Tickets are to be picked up at the sponsoring businesses. On July 16 and 17 the movie will be Shrek sponsored by the town of Atoka. Brighton 100
On Sept. 12, Brighton is turning 100 and the town is going to celebrate. The event is scheduled for September 13-14 and more information will come soon.Arts & Rec logo
