George Roby II

On July 29, at about 2:45 p.m. the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 100 block of Oak Grove Road in Covington regarding a person who came to the residence, posing as a home health care worker and allegedly took medication from the 85 year old victim.
On Aug. 2, Criminal Investigation Division investigators received a tip from a citizen related to the theft. Investigators identified the impostor as George Douglas Roby, II, 29 of 370 Russell Road in Drummonds.  Roby was interviewed and admitted to his role in the case.
During the investigation, detectives confirmed that Roby possibly went to other residences under similar pretenses.  Roby is a former employee of a medical supply company which provides home health deliveries.  Once inside the residence, Roby’s goal was to covertly locate and steal pain medications from the unsuspecting victim. The investigation is ongoing and detectives anticipate additional charges.
Roby is being charged with Aggravated Burglary, Theft of Property Under $500 and Criminal Impersonation.  He remains in custody awaiting his arraignment in Tipton County General Sessions Court.
