Amy Lee Clark Carpenter, 42, of Atoka, died on Aug. 28, 2013 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Amy was born in Alexandria, Va., on June 15, 1971 and was the daughter of Doris Showalter and husband Fred of Harrisonburg and F.G. “Flick” Clark and wife Ann of Keyser, W.V. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Jon of Atoka; her sons, Casey of Memphis; and Justin of Harrisonburg; and her sister, Rachel Kraenow and husband Jay of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; father-in-law, Elton Carpenter of Austin, Texas; mother-in-law, Betty Allen and husband Ben of Rustin, La.; sister-in-law, Sarah Carpenter of Austin; sister-in-law, Angela Snellenberg of Monroe, La.; nephew, Blake Emory of Monroe; great niece, Teaguen Emory of Monroe; nephew, Nicholas Rogers of Monroe; and a niece, Caroline Rogers of New Orleans. Amy was a 1989 graduate of Turner Ashby High School. Following high school, she proudly served in the U.S. Navy where she met her husband Jon in Great Lakes. Amy and Jon lived in a number of different locations during his 20 year military career. Amy worked in the banking field and was the branch manager at the Navy Federal Credit Union in Millington. In her banking experience, she was committed to helping people who were having difficulty with record keeping. Amy had a cerebral hemorrhage in April, 2012 that ended her banking career. With her strong determination, she made a remarkable recovery. A second cerebral hemorrhage was not survivable. Following her wishes, Amy’s organs were donated. A memorial service was held Sept. 1 at the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren with Rev. Jeff Carr officiating. A private military burial was planned.
