2013 International Goat Days Festival BBQ Bash is smokin’ in Millington

The 24th Annual International Goat Days Festival BBQ Bash will bring world-class barbeque into town from Sept. 13 – 14 as championship barbeque teams from more than eight states and two countries descend on Millington for prizes, cash and fame.
Goat Days will be held at USA Stadium at 4351 Babe Howard Blvd. in Millington. The gates will be open Friday from 5 to 11 p.m. and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free, parking is $5 per car.
The International Goat Days Festival BBQ Bash is sponsored by Tennessee Community & Court Services, Inc. and annually attracts thousands in support of the organizations work with Drug Courts, recovery and substance abuse.
“We want to encourage folks to come out to the International Goat Days Festival BBQ Bash and bring your family and friends,” said Denise Sigler, BBQ organizer. “It is one our community’s greatest events, and this year with a small donation, attendees can participate in the judging for the People’s Choice award.”
Also new this year, the addition of the Wright Brand Bacon partnership will add a new category of “The Wright Brand Bacon’s Bigger Better Bacon Contest” to the competition. Not only will Wright Brand Bacon supply bacon for the competitors, they will also have Wright Brand Bacon Reps on hand with samples of their savory bacon as well as promotional items.
The International Goat Days Festival BBQ Bash is sanctioned by Kansas City Barbeque Society. KCBS is the world’s largest organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts with more than 10,000 members worldwide. KCBS sanctions almost 300 barbeque contests coast-to-coast throughout America, where competitions for barbequed chicken, ribs, pork and brisket are served up and judged by Certified Barbeque Judges.
KCBS is the most respected judging and sanctioning body in America because of its blind judging process that used a weighted scoring index to ensure a level playing field for all competitors. The organization also trains and commissions Certified Barbeque Judges at classes held across America.
