Millington Alderman Thomas McGhee on behalf of the city of Millington welcoming the honored guests to Mid-South Convoy of Hope at Memphis Cook Convention Center last month. Estimates ran from 6,000-8,000 guests in need that received groceries, food, services, and prayer.
Many had not eaten in some time or hunted for food in throwaways. some children had never had new shoes. The ICU Mobile that is a ministry of the Confidential Care for Women provided pregnancy tests and counseling with ultrasounds.
Plum organics gave away 10,000 units of smoothies and toddler meals that you can also buy at our local Walmart. Good ‘N’ Ready points of light helped with emergency preparedness. The Millington area was well represented among team leaders and volunteers: Cheryl Bone, executive assistant coordinator; Danica and James Baker, food services leaders; Darrell and Sharon Boyd, arrangements leaders; Paul J. Gallina and Jessie Denton, groceries leaders; Elizabeth Kowalski, community services; and many that sorted groceries and provided other services.
