Historical First Baptist Church and Reach Uplift Ministries would like to thank each and every one who came out to the Pre-Thanksgiving Day Community Mega Feast Dinner on Nov. 21.
“We would especially like to thank our generous anonymous benefactor, the volunteers and others who provided any type of assistance to our ministry to make this endeavor a success,” Quintin Smith, Pastor of Historical First Baptist Church said. “We are grateful for the opportunity to provide a fellowship meal to the community and it was indeed a blessing to witness the residents of the Millington Community and those from the surrounding areas uniting and fellowshipping with one another in brotherly love.”
HFBC joined with Reach Uplift Ministries after receiving a donation of $5,000 from an anonymous benefactor in October. The only condition of this donation was that the ministries feed families in the Millington community during the Thanksgiving Holiday and that each dollar received would be used toward that effort.
The week before Thanksgiving, HFBC and Reach Uplift Ministries sponsored the “Chief Servant’s Community Pre-Thanksgiving Mega Feast 2013.”   The dinner was held at the Millington Community Civic Center from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The event was free to the community. The ministries targeted goal was to feed up to 2,000 people.  Members of HFBC, Reach Uplift Ministries and other volunteers supported our efforts and as a result nearly 1,200 people were fed.
“We are so grateful to everyone who came out and it was such a blessing to see residents of our community come out and fellowship with each other in brotherly love because Jesus is love,” Smith said.
Smith also added that he’d like to establish feed Millington as an annual event. Reach Uplift Ministries is a non-profit 501(c)(3), tax exempt corporation dedicated to spiritual, cultural, and community development. This corporation was founded in 2011 at Historical First Baptist Church and incorporated in 2012.
