The Millington Exchange Coub recently inducted two new members at its meeting. Joining members, Marilyn Loeffel and Katrina Skerritt were inducted by Chuck Hurt Jr. (president).

Month of December
The Kiwanis Club of Millington’s annual Christmas Tree sales began Nov. 29. The sales location is the Millington Farmers Market. Kiwanis members will be present from 4-8 p.m., Monday-Friday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday; and from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday. Sales will continue until all trees are sold. All proceeds go back into the community for various service projects. Projects include scholarships for a Millington and Munford High School graduating senior, support for the annual Christmas Basket program, the Millington Crisis Center, Boy Scouts, Ronald McDonals House, Hope House-just to name a few. Kiwanis International includes more than 8,000 clubs with nearly 4000,000 members in more than 85 nations. This past year, Kiwanis clubs donated more than $1,000 million and almost 6 million volunteer hours for community-service projects.

Tops (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly)  meets on Fridays from 9-11 a.m. at Millington Community Center. Come join us the group to have fun. For more information, call Doris Landerman at 573-8536.

The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

City of Munford, The recycling container is located at the south end of Haddad’s Department Store parking lot on Crigger Circle.  Only newsprint, corrugated cardboard and plastics are collected at this site.  Additional materials are collected at the Tipton County Recycling Center located at the landfill on Highway 51. Computers may be recycled free of charge at Expertek, 70 Munford Avenue.

Dec. 24
St. George’s Episcopal Church celebrates the end of the Advent Season and the birth of Christ with three services on Christmas Eve.  Beginning at 4 p.m. is the Christmas Pageant, a service for children and families with a series of tableaux of the nativity scenes by the younger children, with lessons read by the older children and music by the children’s’ choirs.  This service includes the Blessing of the Crèche at the altar and Holy Eucharist.
Beginning at 7:30 p.m. with a medley of Christmas carols is a more formal but family service of Christmas Eve Holy Eucharist with carols.  Sanctifica, St. George’s wind, strings and brass music ensemble; and members of the adult Coventry Choir will provide music for this service.  This evening service provides families a worship service on Christmas Eve with time to get children home and tucked into bed for visions of sugar plums.
At 10:30 pm the Christmas Eve Festival Choral Eucharist begins with carols and seasonal music by the Coventry Choir with a brass and percussion quartet, with the traditional candlelight Holy Eucharist ending at midnight.
One service of Holy Eucharist with Carols will be offered on Christmas Day at 10:30 a.m.
A service of Christmas Lessons and Carols with Holy Communion will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 29, and Holy Eucharist with the Procession of the Magi will be offered at 10:30 a.m. for the Feast of Epiphany on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014. Family, friends and the community are invited to celebrate Christmas at St. George’s Episcopal Church at 2425 S.
