Big things are coming to Nancy Lane Park in 2014.
In addition to the town of Atoka’s Atoka BBQ Fest coming in April and the Dixie Youth World Series coming to Tipton County, last night the Board of Mayor and Aldermen gave final approval to a new playground at the park. Funded through an LPRF grant, the new playground will feature a foam safety surface, multiple slides, play and climbing areas, a raft swing and the first climbing matrix in Tipton County.
Also included in the fenced in area will be shade structures, picnic tables and a misting station. The new playground – to be located adjacent to the restrooms and main parking lot – will become the largest playground in the Atoka park system. The Board also approved a major upgrade to the softball complex at NLP with the installation of a new Musco lighting system. When completed, the new lights will significantly improve the nighttime visibility on the fields while reducing the overall number of light poles and eliminating the overhead power lines.
Both projects are expected to get underway in the next few weeks and should be complete in time for a great 2014 at Nancy Lane Park.
