TRA’s Needham heading to Northwest

By Thomas Sellers Jr.Needham signing

Tipton-Rosemark Academy Lady Rebel Softball standout Ashton Needham signed her national letter of intent this afternoon to play at Northwest Mississippi. Needham is the latest signee to the Lady Rangers program and will join Head Coach Mike Rowan in Senatobia. The coaching staff at Northwest also features new assistant coach Carie Dever Boaz, with 20 years of experience including SEC schools.

Needham attracted offers from colleges like Northwest for her work at first base and at the plate. In three seasons at TRA, she has driven in more than 100 runs. Needham played under then Head Coach Joe Layton and Assistant Coach, her mother, Amber. During the trio’s time with the Lady Rebels, TRA reached Sub-State each year, the State Tournament twice and won the 2011 State Division II-A championship.

Ashton will play for new Head Coach Johnie Sanfratello this upcoming spring for the Lady Rebels.
