In fine Millington fashion, new Millington Municipal Schools Superintendent Dr. David Roper and his wife were welcomed to town Thursday night in the Millington Central High School Cafeteria.
After four days on the job, Roper took a moment as MMS’ first superintendent to meet and greet hundreds of parents and students from MCHS, Millington Middle School, E.A. Harrold Elementary and Millington Elementary.
The community reception was hosted and supported by E.A. Harrold Student Government and PTA, MCHS Art Classes, Food and Nutrition Class, Football Booster Club, Literary Journal Class, PTSA, ROTC and Student Government, Millington Elementary PTA, and Millington Middle Cooking Blub and PTA. Assisting the four Millington schools in the efforts to welcome Roper were Applebee’s, Fro Yo & Jo Premium Frozen Yogurt, Insouth Bank, Living Waters Bookstore, Millington Cleaners, Patriot Bank, T Nail Salon and The Millington Star.
Roper was greeted by all four principals Mark Neal (MCHS), Amie Marsh (MMS), Amanda Compton (E.A. Harrold) and Stephanie Beach (MES). And their students used vocal skills to display to Roper some of their talents.
Millington Mayor Terry Jones presented Roper with a gift on behalf of the city. Then School Board Chairman Greg Ritter introduced Roper. When he took the microphone, Roper reminded the packed cafeteria about the city working together to make Millington Schools the best.
He concluded his address with saying the students are the top priority.
