Thurston Alvin Rowland, born in Tipton County on June 21, 1929, passed away January 29, 2014. Mr. Rowland was a Marine retired from MLG&W, a member of Shelby Forest Baptist Church, Millington Masonic Lodge for 50 years, the Scottish Rite, and Eastern Star. He leaves five daughters, Sandra (Ken) Joyner, Brenda Broom, Wanda (Larry) Poindexter, Ramona (Sonny) Long, Kathy (David) Spencer; two brothers, Ray Rowland and Floyd Rowland; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Oliver and Cordie Corrine Rowland; sister, Betty Ruth Smith; brothers, Joe Rowland, Howard Rowland, and Marshall Rowland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel 873-0123

Jimmy D. Sides, 69, of Drummonds, passed away at his home in Drummonds Jan. 29, 2014. Mr. Sides was born on June 26, 1944 to Leroy and mary Ollie Leopard Sides in Ashland, Miss. He was a sheet metal mechanic for Matthews Blow Pipe Company and a Baptist. Service was held Feb. 1 at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Bro. William Sides officiating. Interment was held at Antioch Cemetery in Ripley. McBride Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Sides is survived his wife of 44 years Nellie Collins Sides of Drummonds; two daughters Brenda Kaye Melvin (Charles) of Drummonds; Valerie Danette Lott (Denton) of Southaven, Miss.; four sons Michael Anthony Sides of Munford; Jimmy Allen Sides of Drummonds; Willie Ryan Sides (Lori) of Tuscumbia, Ala.; Larry Wayne Sides (Dyan) of Horn Lake, Miss.; two sisters: Molly Faye Baker of Victoria, Miss.; Mary Tole of Covington; one brother: William Henry Sides (Doreath) of Bogue Chitto, Miss.; two sisters-in-law; Mae Sides of Friendship; Susan Paulette Sides of Brighton. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Leroy Sides and Mary Ollie Leopard Sides; his twin sister Emmie Lee McClure; sister Sadie Mae Sides; three brothers Randall, Curtis, James Sides. Pallbearers were Charles Melvin, Michael Sides, Allen Sides, Joe Collins, Larry Sides and Matthew Melvin
