GEORGE WAYNE AVERY
George Wayne Avery, 83, passed away Feb. 6, 2014. Mr. Avery was the former owner of Avery & Sons Home Improvements, a member of Lucy Baptist Church, and a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. Service was held at Millington Chapel with interment to follow at Big Creek Cemetery. The widower of Edna Rose Avery and Sara Sparks Burkett Avery; he was also preceded in death by a sister Willie Mae Cook and a brother Charles O Avery. MARY LOU WENNER KRIEGER
Mary Lou Wenner Krieger, mother, wife, daughter, friend, and nana passed peacefully from this world on Feb. 3, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on Feb. 22, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pa. She traveled the world, lived and raised her family in Lawrenceburg, and called Millington home for the past seven years. Throughout her life, Mary Lou has been a fierce pro-life advocate. She has been honored by Tennessee Right to Life for her many years of service to the cause. In 2002, Mary Lou was awarded the group’s inaugural Lifetime Advocate Award in recognition of her commitment and leadership in promoting the protection of human life. In 2013, Mary Lou was again honored when Tennessee’s oldest and largest pro-life organization announced that the annual award would be officially renamed the Mary Lou Krieger Lifetime Advocate Award. Her efforts to support the pro-life cause continued into her 80s. Mary Lou volunteered her time at Confidential Care for Women, a crisis pregnancy center in West Tennessee. The center provides services, financial support, and counseling to expectant mothers, new mothers, and their children through the age of two. She is survived by her children: Katie Krieger Armitage (Daniel Armitage) of Millington, Amy Krieger Hagan (Bruce Hagan) of Webster, Fla., Kurt Krieger (Joan Johnson) of Kingsport, and Karen Krieger Delaney (Tim Delaney) of Polson, Montana; grandchildren: John Hall, Ellie Armitage, Mathew Hall, Abby Hagan, Robert Miller, Jack Hagan, Peter Miller (Dylan Pauley Miller), William Hagan, Catherine Duval Johnson, Kayla Williams, Erinn Williams, Shawn Williams; great grandchildren: Aurora Jean Miller, Damon Johnson, Allison Johnson and Stella Phillips; nieces and nephews: Jay Rabbitt, Marlene Krueger Kerr, Daniel Krueger, David Krueger, Ruth Kruger LaForge, Terry Krueger and Dale Shaddock. She was preceded in death by: May Rose Rabbitt Wenner (mother), Joseph Joseph Wenner (father), Earl Robert Krieger (husband) and Diana Lisa Krieger (daughter). Visitation will take place on Thursday, Feb. 6 from 5–7 p.m. at Neal Funeral Home located at 231 North Military Avenue in Lawrenceburg. The Rosary Service will take place from 7– 8 p.m. at Neal Funeral Home on Feb. 6, officiated by Fr. Joseph Mundakal. Fr. John Kirk will perform Mary Lou’s funeral mass on Friday, Feb. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 222 Berger Street in Lawrenceburg with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. EARL WATSON RUSSELL
Earl Watson Russell, 78, died Feb. 5, 2014. He is survived by Joseph Russell and Victoria Berg; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be at a later date. Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home, Millington.

Floyd L. Shirley, 85, formerly of Millington died Feb. 8, 2014. He was a member of Millington Church of Christ and a retired Senior Chief, U.S.N. after 22 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; children, Ron (Pam) Shirley and Diane (Robert) Maddux; grandchildren, David Daily and Shane Walker; great grandchildren, Carson and Summer Daily and Taylor and Ty Walker. Funeral services were held Feb. 11 at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home and Cemetery.
