MIR postpones opening weekend to Feb. 22-23

Memphis International Raceway announced it will postpone opening weekend until February 22-23, 2014. With the current weather and conditions being forecasted, the team at MIR feels this is in the best interest of our racers, fans and team. We appreciate your support and understanding and look forward to seeing everyone at the track the weekend of February 22-23.

The Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams that was scheduled for Sunday, February 16 has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 2. We will host a double header weekend and overnight parking will be permitted.

Opening weekend schedule includes:

Test N Tune – February22, 2014

Want to go fast? This is your chance! Held on MIR’s historic drag strip, Test and Tune sessions are open to all makes and models. Bring your favorite car or bike to MIR and see what it can run in the quarter-mile. (Vehicles must pass a tech inspection and racers must have a valid driver’s license.)

Gates open at 11:30 a.m., Track Runs from noon- 4 p.m., Admission: $10 Spectator, $20 Racer, Children 12 & under FREE

Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams – February 23, 2014:

The Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams is a 14-race series that culminates with the naming of Track Champion in each class and the bid to participated in the 2014 IHRA Team Finals in October.  The best of the best will compete to represent Team Memphis in October.   Defending Class Champions are:  Super Pro – Rusty Ashmore; Footbrake – David Ciarloni; R. T. Turbines DOT Cliff Hubbard and R. T. Turbines Junior Dragster – Justin Poindexter.

Gates open at 9 a.MIR logom. Time Trials begin at 11 a.m. , Admission:  Super Pro (Electronics) – $50 entry, B & B Towing Pro/Footbrake (No Box) – $40 entry, R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street – $35 entry, R.T. Turbines JR Dragster – $25 entry, Spectator & Crew – $10, Children 12 and under free

“The 2014 season is shaping up to be a great season, we have a variety of racing events that cater to the casual race enthusiast, the die hard racer and for those that want to witness more than 300 MPH racing, we have that also” said Pam Kendrick, Vice President and General Manager of Memphis International Raceway.  Kendrick continues, “We have something for everyone and invite everyone out to the track!”
