Playhouse 51 presents the comedic farce, Black Comedy by Peter Shaffer

Star Staff Reports

Playhouse 51 presents the third show of its 10th season, the comedic farce Black Comedy by Peter Shaffer, directed by Michael Moore. Sponsored by Saint Frances Bartlett, the play revolves around London artist, Brindsley Miller’s doomed efforts to get his artwork noticed by a famous collector.  Brindsley hopes that this gains the respect of his future father-in-law and secures his future.
To impress their guests, Brindsley and his girlfriend, Carol, “borrow” some expensive furniture and antiques pieces from the apartment of out-of-town neighbor, Harold Gorringe. Just as everything seems to be coming together and success is assured, the electricity in the building goes out and the chaos ensues.  When no one can see anyone or anything, everything can and does happen.
Performances will be held on March 7, 8, 9 14 & 15 at the George Harvell Civic Center in Millington located at 8077 Wilkinsville Road.  Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. the one Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.  Tickets are available at the door and cost $12 for regular adults, $10 for seniors / students / military and Playhouse 51 members. For group rates call 872-6878.
