Munford Cougar senior goalie Erik Furseth made history Thursday afternoon in the Munford High School Library.
The four-year varsity starter inked a national letter of intent to play for the Memphis Tigers. With that signing, Furseth became the first Munford Cougar soccer player to sign to play college soccer in the program’s five year history.
Munford Head Coach Kyle Selby said Furseth earned the historical achievement with years of dedication and hard work for the Cougars and his club team the Rush Lobos. Furseth’s parents Rebecca and Steven were by his side for the signing celebrating with the team.
The 2014 Cougars feature nine seniors and more signing are coming in the near future. Furseth said he is proud to represent his team, school and program with a historical Division I signing to The University of Memphis.
