Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast Dagens 4-10The Millington Kiwanis Club held its annual pancake breakfast on Saturday, March 29 at Baker Community  Center. Kiwanis Club Treasurer Mike Caruthers estimates around $2,000 was raised to provide scholarships for students at Millington Central and Munford high schools. Community leaders Leanna and Larry Dagen stopped by for breakfast, and to lend their support.

Volunteers are needed for the citywide Litter Pick-Up sponsored by the Millington City Beautiful Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Aycock Park located at 7330 Renda. Volunteers will receive lunch and a T-shirt. For more information, e-mail or call 873-5770.

The Millington Family YMCA invites you to play at our “Healthy Kids Day®” and “Easter Eggstravaganza” April 12 from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. The Millington Family YMCA is celebrating Healthy Kids Day with a free community event for kids and families in Millington and surrounding communities.  Healthy Kids Day, a national initiative of the Y is to improve the health and well-being of kids, is filled with fun, active play and educational activities that will help parents improve their kids’ lifestyles for the long term. The Millington Family YMCA’s event will take place at 7725 Navy Circle East in Millington and will feature activities such as hula hoop; obstacle course; egg & spoon race; LOWE’s community partner will educate your child on planting and sowing seeds; pool games include a duck derby and Easter egg hunt for all ages. City of Munford Parks and Recreation, the Hospital Wing, and Genesis Church present the Easter Egg Drop Saturday at 10 a.m. in Valentine Park. A helicopter will drop more than 20,000 eggs (some special prize eggs). The age divisions are 1-3 (parental assistant), 4-6 and 7-9 years old. For more information, visit

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be held April 12 at the Millington Masonic Lodge located at 7964 Highway 51 North in Millingtonright next to Grand Buffet from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. There is a cost. Egg-stra fun awaits you at this family style breakfast. Enjoy scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, orange juice, milk, coffee and water as you await the arrival of the Easter Bunny. A special complimentary photo with the Bunny in your Easter best for a small fee. Millington Elementary is having a School Carnival April 12. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. located at 6445 William Osteen Drive (north of Navy Road off of Bethuel). There will be concessions, inflatables, games, vendors and silent auction. The event will  go on rain or shine.

Easter Egg Hunt April 12 at Hampton Memorial United Methodist Church at 7835 Armour Road, Millington, 1-3 p.m. All activities will be free. Easter Egg Hunt will start at 2 p.m. If it rains, all games and activities will be inside. Free refreshments provided. For more information, call 872-2349.

The Millington Book Chat Club will meet at the home of Mrs. Lewis Bomar at 7 p.m. The program will be presented by Mrs. Kenneth Hinshaw on the book “Read My Pins” by Madeline Albright. For more information, call 872-7812.

Kidz Easter Celebration Egg Hunt will be held April 19 at 1 p.m. for ages infant to 10. The event will be held at Munford Baptist Church located at 1253 Munford Avenue rain or shine. For more information, call 837-6325.

Free identity theft workshop to be held on Tuesday  from 8:30-10 a.m. at Munford City Hall. To register, e-mail or call 837-4600.
April 25
The Millington Central High School Backyard BBQ Contest (2 Man Teams) will be held April 26. There is an entry fee per category (hamburger, pork, chicken and best booth. Set up will be April 25 after 5 p.m. All proceeds will go to the MCHS Basketball team. For more information, call Brad Cross at 496-9525.
Month of May
If anyone is nterested in joining Millington’s Relay for Life and support the American Cancer Society, contact Cathy Pike. The group needs teams – entertainment and vendors this year. Day of the main event is May 17 at Aycock Park in Millington. Event will be held from noon until midnight this year. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we will move the event inside. The National Day of Prayer “Pray for America: In His Name The Nations Will Put Their Home,” will be held May 1 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Harvell Civic Center located at 8977 Wilkinsville Road in Millington.
