Through hard work and some prayers, the Market @ the Park came to life Saturday afternoon.
Event organizer Karroll Warberg wanted to provide an outlet for local crafty people, bakers, artists and creative residents. More than 40 vendors were on hand in Jamerson Park near the Millington Middle School for the Market @ the Park.
“Thank God for this beautiful day,” Warberg said. “At the moment we’re tentivitily planning to do this twice a year. It all depends on how well today goes. But it’s looking good so far.”
Several of the vendors said they were glad to have a day to showcase their skills and make a little extra money. Mary Hale brought some of her baked goodies out like cake pops and college logo cakes. Mother and daughter Angel and O’ngel Davis stopped by Hale’s booth to grab snacks for the entire household.
Joining personal vendors like Hale were local businesses like Fro Yo & Jo. Ryan Ritter was excited to see the frozen treat booth in the park bringing his mother Kelly and sister Katlyn over to grab a frozen banana.
Some people grabbed crafts made by vendors like Sarah Wilkins. The 20-year-old featured original hand bags, door hangers and coffee mugs.
Informative booths were also a part of the event like Millington Animal Safe Haven Dog Rescue. A few K-9 relaxed in the ideal temperatures along side MASH members. Tucker is one of the dogs looking for a home. To contact MASH visit www. or call Sherrie Morgan at 361-2776.
