Lady Rebels to play for State title, Rebels come up short

It’s been a busy Thursday for the Millington Star’s teams and athletes at the 2014 Spring Fling in Murfreesboro. There is good and bad news coming for Tipton-Rosemark Academy. The good news is the Lady Rebels have advanced to the Division II-A State Softball championship game after beating USJ 6-4. TRA senior Ashton Needham hit a homer in the victory.

But the Rebels came up short 8-4 in their contest against the USJ Bruins. The Bruins won the school’s fifth State championship earning the 2014 Division II-A crown on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

In other sports action, Munford Lady Cougar finished in the top 16 in the Class 3A Discus competition with a throw of more than 87 feet.

Brighton Tennis doubles team of Nathan Yoder and Blake Armour were beaten 6-2, 6-1 by Siegel duo Michael Jacobs and Chadwick Daugherty.

Earlier in the week the Munford Lady Cougar Softball team endure two tough games being eliminated from the Class 3A Softball State Tournament. And the Millington 4x200m relay team finished out of the top 8 with a time of 1:47. Trojan track will be represented by Devynn Brandon and Demarius Curry in tomorrow’s High Jump.
