Taking his talents to Memphis

By Thomas Sellers Jr.TRA Vernon Signing 6-12

On May 16 the Tipton-Rosemark Academy Performance Arts building had one more final act from Tyler Vernon as a student at the school.
Joined by his parents Lesa and Justin Vernon, TRA Fine Arts Department leaders Lalania Vaughn and Todd Goode, Tyler had few words to say and one simple action. He signed his letter of intent to attend The University of Memphis on a performing arts scholarship.
Vernon has attended TRA since the sixth grade and has been a part of the Fine Arts Department during his studies. He graduated on May 17 with a long list of honors.
Outside of the arts, Vernon is a member of several clubs and organizations like National Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta and the National Honor Society.
He has served as the president of the Drama Club and a section leader of the Concert and Show choirs. Vernon is a 2012-14 Memphis Orpheum STAR Council member, a St. Jude Hospital “Volunteer,” and a Tennessee American Legion Boys State Delegate.
Vernon has participated in the All-West Honor Choir among other statewide and national honors for performing arts.
While at TRA, Vernon was a part of 11 TRA theater productions. The Bartlett resident was voted “Most Talented” by his peers. The Eagle Scout and multiple award winning student will not attend Memphis as part of the Emerging Leaders program.
