Millington Airport Authority Board of Commissioners Meetings are scheduled at 3:30 p.m. every third Tuesday at Millington Regional Jetport. For more information, call 873-5796.

Jordan’s Thrifts, Gifts & Java located at 6646 Highway 51 North by Plantation Oaks Hotel will be starting classes on Jan. 6 from 6-8 p.m. for the following classes: Domestic Violence, Shelter from the Storm (Overcoming Sexual Abuse) and Celebrate Recovery (Overcoming Addictions). Tops (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly)  meets on Fridays from 9-11 a.m. at Millington Community Center. Come join the group to have fun. For more information, call Doris Landerman at 573-8536.

The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

Join Jeremy Rochell every Monday morning from 9 a.m.-noon for an educational program to make landscape improvements in local parks. This program is open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by and adult or pre-register at 7942 Church Street in Millington. All materials will be provided. No fee to participate.

Soul Out Ministries’ Hot Nutritional Meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center from noon to 1 p.m. The program is affiliated with Dream Interfaith Ministries and all donations are tax deductible. For more information, call program founder/coordinator Carol Jenkins 949-1675.

July 11
This summer the city of Millington is featuring a variety of movies in our parks. There is no charge for children 12 and under, 13 and above there will cost $5. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult but there can be more than one child per adult. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets and enjoy a night of entertainment for the whole family at our community parks. This Friday’s movie Finding Nemo at Lion’s Park.
July 12
Millington City Beautiful Gardening Seminar will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Millington Farmer’s Market  located at 5152 Easley Street in Millington. “Look What We Can Do With Concrete–Leaf Casting and Garden Art” will be conducted by Jean Ward-Jones of Memphis Area Master Gardener. It’s free to the public. For more information, call 872-2609.

July 17
The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1382 meeting will be held at noon, Thursday at Old Timers Restaurant in Millington. The guest speaker will be Joy Williams, Senior Living Advisor for “A Place for Mom.”  She will discuss senior citizen living options and caregiving for seniors. July 23-25
The Quito United Methodist Church, located at 4580 Quito Drummonds Road in Millingtonwill host its VBS July 23-5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The VBS is for children ages 4-grade 6. VBS preregister at 835-2318.

July 27-30
Vacation Bible School, Workshop of Wonders, Imagine and Build with God!, will be held at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, July 27-30 (July 27 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., July 28-July 30 6 to 8:30 p.m.). The VBS is for Kindergarten through sixth grade. For more information, call Debbie Cross at 876-3665.

This Summer
NFL Pro Bowler and Carolina Panther star Greg Hardy is returning back to his hometown this summer for the I Go Hardy Camp for boys and girls. The football camp will be held July 12 for ages 6-17. The football camp is limited to 275. And there will be a cheerleading mini-camp for ages 6-12 that same day. The space there is limited to 25 spots. The camp will be held at Aycock Park with registration at 8 a.m. Then the camp will start at 9 a.m. and be completed at 2 p.m. Register at www.greghardyjr.com.
