Munford’s Bonaiuto reaches base with Tennessee Temple

By Thomas Sellers Jr.Bonaiuto Signing

Former Munford Lady Cougar Courtney Bonaiuto held her signing ceremony yesterday at Old Timers Restaurant in Millington. She was joined by nearly 50 friends and family members including mother Rhonda and step-father John Ballard. Also making the trip from Chattanooga were Tennessee Temple Head Coach Randy Crawford and Assistant Coach Nate Tompkins. The Munford utility player will become part of the Tennessee Temple Crusaders roster. Used all over the field, Bonaiuto had a breakout season from the plate batting ninth in the lineup. Lady Cougars veteran Skipper Glenn Goulder used Bonaiuto as a second leadoff hitter with her slapping style. With her athletic, larger frame, Bonaiuto had the power to drive the ball all over the field. Along with her speed, Bonaiuto beat out several infield hits throughout the 2014 season.

Her contribution helped the Lady Cougars win the District 13-3A and Region 7-3A tournaments this past season. And when Munford defeated Houston at Sub-State, Bonaiuto was one of three players (Jodie Duncan and Christina Cantrell) to play in four straight State Tournament for the Lady Cougars.
