Marti Miller, President of A Mid-South Investigation (A MSI), Body Language Expert and Jury Trial Consultant recently visited the Young at Heart senior group at Clopton United Methodist Church in Brighton.  She discussed senior safety and self-defense.  With the help of Steve Davis, she demonstrates how a cane can be used as a weapon. It’s time for the Millington Central High School Class of 1984’s 30-year reunion. The committee is planning a blow out celebration Aug. 29 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Fixins Restaurant at 45 Reeder Ave. in Munford. Classmate David Mcree has offered to close off the eatery for a private party. On Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Millington Hampton Inn and Suites at 8838 Highway 51 North in Millington there will be an event. Millington Airport Authority Board of Commissioners Meetings are scheduled at 3:30 p.m. every third Tuesday at Millington Regional Jetport. For more information, call 873-5796.

Jordan’s Thrifts, Gifts & Java located at 6646 Highway 51 North by Plantation Oaks Hotel will be starting classes on Jan. 6 from 6-8 p.m. for the following classes: Domestic Violence, Shelter from the Storm (Overcoming Sexual Abuse) and Celebrate Recovery (Overcoming Addictions). The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

Join Jeremy Rochell every Monday morning from 9 a.m.-noon for an educational program to make landscape improvements in local parks. This program is open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult or pre-register at 7942 Church Street in Millington.  All materials will be provided.  No fee to participate.

Soul Out Ministries’ Hot Nutritional Meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center from noon to 1 p.m. The program is affiliated with Dream Interfaith Ministries and all donations are tax deductible. For more information, call program founder/coordinator Carol Jenkins 949-1675.

July 24-25
The Quito United Methodist Church, located at 4580 Quito Drummonds Road in Millington will host its VBS July 23-5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The VBS is for children ages 4-grade 6. VBS preregister at 835-2318.

July 26
Go Getaway Bed & Breakfast located at 126 Tipton Street South in Munford is hosting a Yard Sale with all proceeds going to the Haiti Mission this Saturday from 6 to 11 a.m. For more information, call 267-2849.

July 27-30
Vacation Bible School, Workshop of Wonders, Imagine and Build with God!, will be held at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, July 27-30 (July 27 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., July 28-July 30 6 to 8:30 p.m.). Aug. 3
Millington First Baptist Church located at 5010 West Union Ave., in Millington will host a Backpack Sunday Aug. 3. Children (preschool and elementary) can wear their backpacks to church that day and receive a small set of school supplies. Sept. 6
Millington First Baptist Church located at 5010 West Union Ave., Millington will host the annual Wild Game Dinner and Car Show Sept. 6. The car show will begin at 1 p.m. (there is no entry fee for cars) and the wild game dinner will begin at 5 p.m. (doors open for vendors and appetizers at 3:30 p.m.)with our special guest speaker Brody Swisher of Paris, Tenn.  There is a cost for the wild game dinner, which can be purchased in the church office or the church event desk.  For more information, contact the church office at 872-2264 or visit the website at fbcmillington.org.
