It’s time for the Millington Central High School Class of 1984’s 30-year reunion. The committee is planning a blow out celebration Aug. 29 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Fixins Restaurant at 45 Reeder Ave. in Munford. Classmate David Mcree has offered to close off the eatery for a private party. On Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Millington Hampton Inn and Suites at 8838 Highway 51 North in Millington there will be an event. There is a fee for tickets and purchase visit or make payment by Aug. 2 to: Class of 1984 reunion 312 Nivens Drive, Atoka, TN 38004. West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church located at 3099 West Union Road is having a series of sermons based on the book of Hebrew, entitled “Jesus is Greater.” Morning worship service is at 11 a.m.  Come join the church for a message.  For more information, call 876-5757, ext 3.

millington star logoThe Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

Millington Airport Authority Board of Commissioners Meetings are scheduled at 3:30 p.m. every third Tuesday at Millington Regional Jetport. For more information, call 873-5796.

Jordan’s Thrifts, Gifts & Java located at 6646 Highway 51 North by Plantation Oaks Hotel will be starting classes on Jan. 6 from 6-8 p.m. for the following classes: Domestic Violence, Shelter from the Storm (Overcoming Sexual Abuse) and Celebrate Recovery (Overcoming Addictions). Tops (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly)  meets on Fridays from 9-11 a.m. at Millington Community Center. Come join the group to have fun. For more information, call Doris Landerman at 573-8536.

The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

Join Jeremy Rochell every Monday morning from 9 a.m.-noon for an educational program to make landscape improvements in local parks. This program is open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult or pre-register at 7942 Church Street in Millington.  All materials will be provided.  No fee to participate.

Soul Out Ministries’ Hot Nutritional Meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center from noon to 1 p.m. The program is affiliated with Dream Interfaith Ministries and all donations are tax deductible. For more information, call program founder/coordinator Carol Jenkins 949-1675.

Aug. 2
The Millington Crisis Center located at 8011 Wilkinsville Road will be hosting a Back to School Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday rain or shine, inside or outside. School clothers are $1 each. There will also be school supplies, home pillows, bed toppers, summer items, glassware, small appliances, books, decorative shelves, luggage, snow shovels and more. All proceeds go directly to the general operating fund of the Crisis Center.

Aug. 9
The Millington Central High School Football Booster Club will be holding two clean-up days at the MCHS Football Stadium and invites all of the community to join the club, the date of Saturday Aug. 9. Boosters will be there working throughout the day from 8 a.m. until the evening. The public is invited to bring weedeaters, rakes, shovels, paint brushes/rollers, gloves and more.

The Emmanuel The Word Church located at 8641 Greenhill Road in Millington is sponsoring a Back to School Supplies Giveaway and more this Saturday. For more information, call 872-6695.

Millington City Beautiful Gardening Seminar will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. at the Millington Farmer’s Market located at 5152 Easley in Millington. The Seminar is “Trees and Storms” by Jim Volgas—Memphis Area Master Gardener. It is free to the public. For more information call 872-2609.

Aug. 17
Homecoming will be celebrated at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located at 3099 West Union Road, Millington, on Aug. 17 at 11 a.m.  Church service will be at 11 with a pot luck dinner and fellowship following.  Homecoming is a good time for renewal of your faith or a time to start a new phase in your life.  Come join us for faith, fellowship and food. Aug. 20
Kids In Christ the King is a youth program at West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  It is for children ages 3-17 years old and meets every Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m.  Dinner is served

Sept. 6
Wild Game Dinner will be held at Millington First Baptist Church located at 5010 West Union Ave. Millington FBC is hosting their annual wild game dinner on Saturday.  The wild game dinner will begin at 5 p.m. (doors open for vendors and appetizers at 2 p.m.)with our special guest speaker Brodie Swisher of Paris.  There is a cost for a wild game dinner, which can be purchased in the church office or the church event desk.  For more information contact the church office at 872-2264 or visit our website at

Millington FBC is hosting a car show in conjunction with their annual wild game dinner on Saturday, Sept. 6.  The car show will accept cars for entry from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (there is a fee for cars).  The car show will be from 1- 4p.m. with awards to be given at 5 p.m. before the wild game dinner.  Admission is free to attend.  Concessions will be provided.  All proceeds from the event will go to the Millington Crisis Center.  For more information, contact the church office at 872-2264 or visit our website at
