Football Wrap Up: Week 2

A big second quarter helped the Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels pull away from Tunica Institute Friday night.
The Rebels (2-0) fell behind 6-0 in the first quarter. Then TRA exploded for 22 points in the second period to prevail 36-13. The scoring outburst started with an AJ Hightower 29-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Carpenter. Ahead 7-6, the Rebels got a score from the defense when Logan Stewart picked off a Tunica pass and took it to the house for a TD. Hightower ran the ball in for the two-point conversion.
TRA went ahead 22-6 at the break when Hightower ran into the end zone from 4-yard out. The Rebels iced the game with Hightower to Carpenter TD pass in the third quarter. Then Hightower scored the final touchdown of the night for TRA with another 4-yard run.
Hightower passed for 198 yards and ran for an addition 78 yards in the win. The Rebels take to the field against Fayette Academy.
In other action, the Munford Cougars defeated the Manassas Tigers 23-13. Munford got TDs from Andre Thomas, David Simon and Markeeis “Flint” James. The Cougars are back in action this Friday at home against MLK Prep.
