Month of September
The Millington Lions Club meets at Olympic Steakhouse in Millington every second and fourth Tuesday at noon. The Lions Clubs works around the world for visually impaired and hearing impaired. The public is welcome to join the Club members and to make additional inquiries.

West Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church located at 3099 West Union Road is having a series of sermons based on the book of Hebrew, entitled “Jesus is Greater.” Morning worship service is at 11 a.m.  Come join the church for a message.  For more information, call 876-5757, ext 3.

Millington Airport Authority Board of Commissioners Meetings are scheduled at 3:30 p.m. every third Tuesday at Millington Regional Jetport. For more information, call 873-5796.

Jordan’s Thrifts, Gifts & Java located at 6646 Highway 51 North by Plantation Oaks Hotel will be starting classes on Jan. 6 from 6-8 p.m. for the following classes: Domestic Violence, Shelter from the Storm (Overcoming Sexual Abuse) and Celebrate Recovery (Overcoming Addictions). The Exchange Club of Millington meets at Old Timer’s Restaurant in Millington at noon every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Guest are always welcomed. For more information, call 872-8888.

Join Jeremy Rochell every Monday morning from 9 a.m.-noon for an educational program to make landscape improvements in local parks. This program is open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult or pre-register at 7942 Church Street in Millington.  All materials will be provided.  No fee to participate.

Soul Out Ministries’ Hot Nutritional Meal are served every Thursday at the Baker Community Center from noon to 1 p.m. The program is affiliated with Dream Interfaith Ministries and all donations are tax deductible. For more information, call program founder/coordinator Carol Jenkins 949-1675.

Sept. 18
Hampton Memorial UME located at 7835 Armour Road will host a Yard Sale Sept.  20 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tables are available and for more information, call 872-8836.

The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1382 meeting will be held at noon, Thursday at Old Timers Restaurant in Millington. The guest speaker will be Rhonda Mooney, NARFE Tennessee Federation Vice President.  She will present a report on the recent NARFE Convention which will include results of the election for National Officers.  For more information, call Carolyn Cribbis at 413-7123.

Sept. 21
The public is invited to share in the celebration of Lucy Baptist Church’s 144th Anniversary on Sunday. The service will begin with Bible Study at 9:30 a.m., followed by Worship Celebration at 10:45 a.m. Guest Preacher Kirk Bishop, Pastor of Westside Baptist, Tuscumbia , Ala. , former LBC Associate Pastor (2010-13). Special Music, “potluck” dinner will follow in the Christian Activities Building — bring dishes to share and enjoy an afternoon of fellowship. Rev. Ed White, current pastor at First United Methodist Church, and congregation invite you to join us for the 125th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday. FUMC will have one worship service at 10:30 a.m., in the sanctuary.  Bishop Bill McAlily will be the guest preacher for the day. Rev. Tim Carpenter, the Asbury District Superintendent and his wife will be joining the service, along with several pastors who have been a part of our congregation over the past few decades. Adult Sunday School classes will meet in Williams Hall from 9:30-10:20 a.m. Bishop McAlily’s wife, Lynn will discuss the “Adopt-A-School” initiative she has been working with for the last few years. Immediately following worship, there will unveil our historical marker and place a time capsule.  The church will also have a traditional FUMC Potluck luncheon (held in the Flame Center), featuring a historical slide show, “Happy Parade” video, great food, and wonderful fellowship. Sept. 23
The Rosemark Civic Club will meet on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Memorial Hall of the Richland Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 8658 Rosemark Road, in Millington. Topics to be discussed include plans for the October 11 Country Fair at Rosemark and updates on other  current issues affecting the community. Light refreshments will be served. Sept. 25
A journey with God through Cancer will be held on Sept. 25 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Temple U.M. Church at 4404 Sykes Road in Millington. The church will host a monthly facilitated group every fourth Thursday to offer Hope and Encouragement for all who’ve been touched by cancer. Find spiritual support you need to navigate this most challenging season. This group is for anyone who has been impacted by cancer — those in active treatment, survivors, caregivers and concerned loved ones. For more information, call Bill Simms at 873-0186.
Sept. 27
On Saturday, the Annual Luncheon for Federal Retirees and former employees of the former Naval Hospital of Millington will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Timers Restaurant in Millington. For more information, call 872-6464.

Oct. 3-4
The St. William Women’s Club is having a yard sale on Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Saturday, 2014. from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.  This will be inside the Annex located at the corner of Easley and Chambers. For more information, call Ruthann Olson at 872-7636.

Oct. 11
The Ecumenical Bazaar is coming up soon. The Millington Ecumenical Bazaar will be on Saturday from 9 a.m.to 3:30 p.m. at the Baker Community Center located at 7942 Church Street in Millington. You will find crafts, canned goods, jellies, home made baked goods, bread and candy.  There will also be White Elephant items. Come and support your local churches. Oct. 18
