Playhouse 51 in Millington opens its 11th season with “The Foreigner,” by Larry Shue sponsored by Mike Caruthers, USA Properties, Inc.
Performance dates are Sept. 26-28 and Oct. 3-5 at Harvell Civic Center at 8077 Wilkinsville Road.
This comical farce revolves around painfully shy and socially inept Charlie whose friend Froggy brings him to an out-of-the-way fishing lodge in rural Georgia to rest and recuperate from a traumatic experience. To insure Charlie’s privacy, Froggy tells the owner that he is from a little known foreign country and does not speak or understand English. Very quickly, Charlie learns all manner of intriguing secrets about and from the people around him.
He also discovers the plans of a group of evil opportunists who are deviously trying to seize ownership of the fishing lodge for their own ill-gotten gains. Charlie and 15-year-old Ellard thwart their plans in a hilarious turn-around.
The show is directed by Michael Moore who directed “Black Comedy” for Playhouse 51 this past spring and has appeared in several Playhouse 51 productions.
Tickets are available at the door for $12 adults and $10 for seniors, military and students. Playhouse 51 is a member of Arts Access. Check for more information at 872-7170, www.playhouse51.com or www.facebook.ccom/playhouse51
